Barbara Harting was given her first camera at the age of 6 or 7 by her father Gordon Hicks.  Gordon has spent at least 70 years of his life engaged in photography on a professional level.  Her mother gave her an appreciation for the science and nature, in particular wildlife. The input from both her parents can be seen in Barbara's photos. 

The name Barbara uses to sell her photos is "Because it's there". It  came a conversation with a woman in a camera store years ago.  She was looking at an image that Barbara shot of a sunrise and said " That is amazing, how did you do that?"  Barbara answered, "I didn't, I just took the picture."
